Last week, 12-year-old TMG Student Space Ambassador (SSA) Astronaut Joey set a goal for himself to raise $1500 for The Mars Generation’s (TMG) Give to Mars Day fundraising campaign. Joey was raising the money in an effort to fund one fully paid scholarship to Space Camp (including travel). TMG is proud to report that Joey’s efforts did not end when Give to Mars Day did. He has extended his campaign in order to reach his goal.
Joey, who resides in Charleston, South Carolina, aims to be an engineer and one day, an astronaut. He was inspired to raise the scholarship money after his own trip to Space Camp. Joey realized that not all young people who have the desire to attend Space Camp have the resources needed to make the dream happen. The Mars Generation’s Give To Mars Day made campaign fueled Joey’s desire to help make a difference in another young person’s life. And while he may not have reached his goal in one day, he isn’t giving up. It’s his determination and willingness to make the world a better place that makes Joey a great Student Space Ambassador.
Joey’s love of science and space is only matched by his enthusiasm to share it with others. As a mentor to other young people and an inspiration to his community, Joey is well on his way to changing the world. TMG is so proud of Joey’s hard work and dedication.
